Delaware Water Gap / Old Mine Road

Cayenne and Macan Drivers - Delaware Water Gap Recreational Area is a protected State Park stretching over 40 miles (64 km) and 70,000 acres following the Delaware River bordering NJ and PA. Old Mine Road, although difficult to follow at points, connects the most Sothern point of the park to the most Northern point, minutes from the New York State border. Although mostly paved, Old Mine Road does not receive winter maintenance, making it un-passible when snow covers it. This also means the road surface becomes very rough at points and can be very hazardous to low profile tires. This route offers a trip back in time to when there was no traffic, congestion, and speed traps. There are excellent views plenty of challenging twisty hill climbs and descents along Old Mine Road as well as long straight-aways. The speed limit is low, but there is almost no enforcement, being mostly unpopulated state park. If the road surface were a bit smoother, this would undoubtedly be one of the best scenic drives for any enthusiast in the Northeast.
