Atlantic Ocean Road
Running through an archipelago this road connecting the island of Averøy with the mainland is a relatively recent accomplishment. Opened in 1989 its 8.3 kilometers let you experience the many facets of Norwegian beauty: picturesque islands, seals and whales swimming in the Atlantic Ocean with a backdrop of lush green mountains. A blissful ride over eight bridges that rightfully has received many awards – among them "Norwegian Construction of the Century" (NRK, 2005) and "The World’s Best Road Trip" (The Guardian, 2006).
