Orange County Surf Safari

The beaches of Southern California are legendary, and none more so than the surfer hangouts that dot the Orange County coast. Easily accessible from anywhere in L.A., these beaches make for a quick and easy, half-day road trip. The route begins just south of the mission town of San Juan Capistrano, known internationally for its adobe architecture and yearly swallow migration. Rounding Dana Point, the route heads north on Highway 1 to reach legendary Laguna Beach. Passing by Crystal Cove State Park—which offers breathtaking views of the Orange County coast—the route passes by the marinas and yacht clubs of Newport Beach.Further north, the route reaches Huntington Beach, known around the world as “Surf City USA”. Passing the city’s iconic beach pier and bustling downtown, the route doubles back on Highway 1 to return south and complete the trip.
