Salzburg and the lakes – a road trip with a wealth of photo stops. The tour along the great lakes leads out of Salzburg to Lake Fuschl and the famous castle hotel of the same name. From there, you will continue to Lake Wolfgang in the Salzkammergut region. Take the opportunity to ride on the Zwölferhorn cable car to the summit to enjoy the views of the Mondsee and Attersee lakes. The route then leads via Gmunden to the Traunsee lake and onto the Hallstätter See lake. You will now leave Upper Austria and drive along well-constructed roads through Styria and south of the Dachstein Mountains. From Altenmarkt, the Tauern autobahn will take you past Hohenwerfen Castle back towards Salzburg. The last stage follows a narrow serpentine road skirting the Wiestal reservoir to take you back to the starting point of the tour.
