L'Alpe D'Huez
Alpe d’Huez enjoys international fame as both a ski resort and an arrival point for the Tour de France. The Winter Olympics were held here in 1968, providing the small town with an enormous economic boom, but resulting in the loss of the Alpine conviviality that can still be found in neighboring Ornon. L’ Alpe d’Huez is considered to be a legend among racing cyclists; its hairpin bends are named after stage winners.
