Penser Joch: Vom Brenner nach Bozen abseits der Autobahn

From the Brenner to Bolzano via the motorway is actually pearls in front of the sows. If you want to add a few nice GTS moments to this distance, you can invest an extra hour in the detour via the Penser Joch from Sterzing. On the ascent, the small side road, a classic alpine pass, quickly winds its way over the tree line over a few kilometres on winding serpentines and hairpin bends at an altitude of around 2000 metres. The descent on the other side leads a bit more relaxed into the lush green south of Tyrol with great views of rugged rock faces and breathtaking castles thrown into the landscape. Bolzano comes closer quickly - if nothing comes in between! The many small tunnels on the last section are full of conflict material for trucks meeting each other. But the spectacle of how the experienced truckers literally circle their giants past each other at a distance of centimetres and with a lot of bearing help from the drivers of the following cars is worth any waiting time. The disdainful motorway for the continuation to the south from Bolzano waits early enough.
