Kittatinny Ridge Loop
For most Americans, New Jersey is known more as a center of industry than a place of natural beauty. Yet, locals know that in the state’s northwestern corner, a landscape of rolling forests and steep river gorges invites The route begins in bucolic Saxton Falls and continues along Interstate 80 until it reaches the Delaware River at Knowlton Township. As the river curves into the Kittatinny Ridge, the route enters the Delaware Water Gap that straddles the New Jersey-Pennsylvania border. Turning north, the route climbs along the Kittatinny Ridge towards High Point, the highest peak of the Kittatinny Mountains and New Jersey generally. Turning south, the route passes through the lakes and rolling forests of Sussex County before reconnecting with the start of the trip near Lake Hopatcong.
