Joshua Tree Trip
The resort communities of the Coachella Valley are legendary as the playground of California’s rich and famous. The stunning natural scenery of the Mojave and Colorado deserts also makes this part of the state perfect for a relaxed, one-day desert road trip.The route begins southbound on Palm Canyon Drive. Heading south through the Coachella Valley, the route passes through the resorts of Palm Springs, Indian Wells, and La Quinta—site of the iconic Sunnylands estate. As the route approaches the Salton Sea it cuts east and begins to climb into the high desert of Joshua Tree National Park. Traveling deep within the park, the route connects with Park Boulevard and passes some of the park’s most popular sites, including Skull Rock, Keys View, and the Hidden Valley Nature Trail. Exiting the park, the route turns onto Twentynine Palms Highway and heads southwest to return to Palm Springs.
