Best of Cape Town Roads
Travel blogger Courtney Scott is a woman on a mission: experience the most epic roads in the world, together with Porsche. With the help of the GTS Community, we went on a trip to the most beautiful places and their impressive sights. The result? A sublime route around Cape Town, from the Misty Cliffs in the south to Bo-Kaap and further up to Bloubergstrand. And two winners, who shared their personal highlights along the road.During the magical moment before dawn, the Cape Town region already proves why it is a favourite choice among the GTS Community and Porsche fans: the roads are free and the fog lifts like a curtain to reveal the city and the ocean beyond. We begin at the Misty Cliffs and take Chapman’s Peak Drive north. The mountainous pass is pure passion snaking along the coastal cliffs in sharp curves and leading through tunnels, the ocean roaring in the background. The tone of the backdrop throughout the entire route is set: endless beaches, rugged cliffs, rolling hills. The road leads further north to the foot of South Africa’s infamous Table Mountain. Right next to it and Lions Head lay Signal Hill; the flat summit of the “Lion’s Rump” rises 350 meters above Table Bay. Making the climb is rewarded with a breath-taking view of Cape Town and De Waterkant. Sightings of baboons and African penguin colonies pepper the path.Bo-Kaap is a recommended excursion when travelling through Cape Town from Signal Hill: the vibrant neighbourhood is rich in colourful buildings and narrow alleys. But the last stop is even further north: rumour has it that the Bloubergstrand is the place to be to see the most beautiful sunsets in the entire world. The magnificent winning route is more than deserving of its position. With a convincing and diverse backdrop consisting of mountains, ocean and nature, it leaves the traveller with memorable moments and a sense of longing for every trip that follows.
