Col D’Izoard
Despite or maybe because of its lack of traffic, Col d’Izoard provides delightful driving pleasure, with its 2,360-meter altitude and "two faces". From the north, the road leads along the Cerveyette valley to the village of Saint Michel and on through a high pass. The serpentine section begins at the start of the forest and leaves this behind shortly before the Napoléon rest area. On the south side, Col d’Izoard reveals its alter-ego; the Casse Déserte, or "broken wasteland", where scree slopes and pinnacles dominate the weathered landscape.
