Chambers Creek Road

Quiet roads in urban areas can be hard to find, especially within the Tacoma metro. Meet, Chambers Creek Road. Yes it can have traffic, but if timed right, it can be a peaceful little run with some forest, some elevation change, and some water views. No, it isn't the prettiest due to some lovely warehouses and industrial buildings, but that is Tacoma for you. A hard working town. The route starts off just east of the internationally famous Chambers Bay Golf Course, and runs down a grade with nice smooth turns. It goes over some water on a bridge type structure that is slightly angled, though it can be icy in winter, so be careful. It then runs along some water and pops back out in a residential neighborhood in Steilacoom. A good quick way to get from University Place to Steilacoom. For a fun change, do the route backwards so you have a hill climb instead of a down grade. I recommend going in the fall, when the deciduous tree's all along this route turn brilliant shades of orange, red, and yellow.
