Col du Galibier

"Galibier" is considered to be one of the highlights of the Tour de France. The road leading over the Col was built in 1876 and is the fifth highest paved road in the Alps, at an altitude of 2,645 meters. It connects Savoie in the north and Hautes-Alpes in the south, with the border running along the summit. Galibier's huge notoriety attracts thousands of recreational cyclists every year to accept the challenge of conquering the pass. And any other travelers are also rewarded with the overwhelming panorama that awaits at the summit. From here, in good weather you can see Mont Blanc, Barre des Écrins and Meije in all their glory.
